Katy Perry will perform at the 2015 Super Bowl half-time show.

The 30-year-old 'Firework' singer has been confirmed as the headline act at the NFL Super Bowl in February next year.

Katy took to her Twitter account to share her excitement at the appointment, as she hinted at the crazy show she is planning to put on.

Yesterday (23.11.14) she wrote: ''My band is in the other room screaming at the TV (and each other) over this [Dallas] Cowboys-[New York] Giants game. Can't wait for February 1st... (sic)''

The pop star beauty has many reasons to celebrate, after she took home the award for Favourite Pop/Rock Female Artist, Favourite Adult Contemporary Artist and Single of the Year for her track 'Dark Horse' at last night's American Music Awards.

Reflecting on how she started out as a humble street performer, Katy - who is currently on her Prismatic World Tour in Australia - tweeted: ''3AMA'S & SUPERBOWL?! Not long ago I was playing guitar on the streets of Santa Barbara for maybe 20 bucks a day & an avocado. Wow, life! (sic)''

In past years, the Super Bowl has hosted several of the hottest names in the music industry, including Beyonce, Madonna and The Black Eyed Peas.

In 2013 more than 115 million people tuned in to see Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers perform.
