Katy Perry will perform in a US school on her birthday.

The 'Roar' singer appeared on TV show 'Good Morning America' today (06.09.13) where she launched a competition which will see one lucky educational facility get a special show by the singer when she turns 29 on October 25.

A post on the show's website reads:''Send us a two minute video of you and others at your school performing your own rendition of 'Roar' for a chance to win 'Good Morning America's 'Roar With Katy Perry' contest.''

The winning concert will also be broadcast on 'Good Morning America'.

Katy also said on the show her new album, 'Prism' - released on October 22 - came from a dark period in her life, and she gave a first view of the cover art for the album.

Speaking recently about herself doubt, Katy said: ''When I am in between records, sometimes I doubt myself. I'll be like, 'Did I just get lucky, or did I mass-manipulate the world into thinking that seven songs were worth the number-one position?

''And then I go back into the studio and I start writing, and the true essential oil of who I am comes bubbling back up and reminds me that it's always been inside of me, that nobody can take this away no matter what comment anyone makes,'' the singer ascertained. ''It's going to be there because it's what I was born with and it's what I've worked on my whole life.''
