A commercial for Katy B and Mark Ronson's Olympic theme 'Move to the Beat' is now released and posted on NME's website. The corporate sponsors, Coca Cola are heavily prominent; the video starts with a clip of a bottle top being prised from a glass bottle of the world's best-known fizzy drink.
The track was composed by Mark Ronson and features vocals from Katy B. What makes the track unusual is the way in which Ronson has spliced the musical backing with recorded noises of athletes at work - something which is nicely demonstrated in the video as the action coincides with the percussive sounds as they occur in the track. The song will be used as the official song of the 2012 London Olympics and the video features a host of international Olympic stars, such as Usa's David Oliver, Russia's Kseniya Vdovina, Darius Knight of the UK and Mexico's Maria Espinoza. Katy B and Mark Ronson are shown performing the track, as the featured athletes demonstrate their sorting prowess on a stadium stage with them.
Bbc Radio One are also planning music related celebrations to coincide with the Olympics. The Hackney Weekend celebrations will take place on 23rd and 24th June 2012 on Hackney Downs. Professor Green, Plan B and Jessie J have all been scheduled to perform at the two-day music festival. Tickets are free but priority allocation will be given to resident of Hackney and the surrounding areas.
