Katie Holmes has admitted she recently forgot her lines on stage.

The 'Dead Accounts' star - who is rumoured to be dating again following her split from Tom Cruise in June after six years of marriage - has revealed she loves performing live in the Broadway show but her worst nightmare came through recently when she couldn't remember her script in the middle of an important monologue.

She told 'The Late Show With David Letterman' on Thursday (20.11.12): ''It's really fun, and a couple weeks ago I had the moment that I've been dreading. I have this kind of big speech in the second act, and it's pretty important because it kind of goes along with the theme of the show. I said the first line - and I'm looking at Judy Greer (her co-star) and I'm supposed to be angry at her - and then the second line I didn't remember. And I didn't remember the third one.

''I just looked at her like, ah!''

But the 34-year-old actress insisted she was able to recover by making up her own lines until she her memory came back.

She said: ''Obviously, I know what the point of it is. So, I kind of made my way there'' but admitted it ''felt like a good hour'' before she fully recovered from the embarrassing blunder.

Katie's co-star Judy has previously gushed about her work ethic on the stage show.

She said: ''Katie is one of the hardest-working actresses I've ever worked with. She cares so much. She works so hard. She's early to rehearsal and the last person to leave.

''She's pretty impressive. I've rarely seen her without a giant cup of coffee in her hand, I will say that.''
