Katherine Jenkins has denied that she had an affair with David Beckham, after rumours began circulating on Twitter. The Welsh mezzo-soprano said the speculation was "hurtful" and "untrue" whilst claiming she had only met the footballer twice in her life.
The rumours started on Twitter after a magazine cover - assumed to be fake - started doing the rounds, claiming Beckham had left his wife Victoria Beckham for Katherine. Twitter users re-tweeted the unfounded rumours, which claimed that the affair was covered up by a super-injunction. A spokesman for Beckham said the allegations were "rubbish" and "nonsensical", while Jenkins told her Twitter followers, "Dear Twitter friends, I've read some horrible rumours on here [and] want u 2 know I absolutely deny I've had an affair with David Beckham. The rumours are very hurtful, untrue [and] my lawyers tell me actionable.I've only met David twice: once at the Military Awards in 2010 [and] on a night out in the West End in Feb 2012.We were out in a group of friends [and] it was just a normal fun evening out". If anything, it was a slightly more detailed denial than was expected, though Jenkins was presumably keen to put the story to bed.
Katherine Jenkins' boyfriend was assumed to be television presenter Gethin Jones, though it is understood that the couple are no longer together. She recently gained fame in the U.S. after competing on primetime show DANCING WITH THE STARS.
