Katee Sackhoff, the star of 'Battlestar Galactica', has joined the cast of CSI. The 30-year-old actress was the producers' first choice to replace Jorja Fox on the show three years ago, but for various reasons the contract was never signed. However, they've finally got their woman, and Sackhoff is set to begin a potentially recurring role in the drama, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Sackhoff will play 'Detective Reed', a savvy operator and knowledgeable investigator who displays an apparent lack of sensitivity - her first episode is slated to air in November. The 30-year-old has risen to prominence in recent years after appearing in various high-profile shows. She starred in four episodes of 'Nip/Tuck' playing the new doctor 'Theodora Rowe', and in 2009 appeared in the popular comedy show 'The Big Bang Theory'. However, Sackhoff's appearances in '24' still represent her biggest work to date - she played a data analyst in the award winning series that stars Kiefer Sutherland.
It was announced earlier this year that the actress will play the leading role in the new horror movie 'Growl', currently scheduled for a 2011 release. The movie follows a traveling underground fight club who arrive at a derelict ghost town in the Colorado Rockies.
