British actress Kate Winslet has put her English country mansion on the market after local officials refused to let her build a large fence around the house.

The Titanic star purchased the 15th century property in Sussex, England with her husband, Ned Rocknroll, last year (13) and applied for planning permission to put up tall wooden gates and a fence around the perimeter to protect her privacy.

However, the application was rejected by the local parish council, according to Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper, and Winslet has now put the house on the market.

The publication reports the property is up for sale for $3.7 million (£2.3 million).
