Kate Winslet claims she is "obviously not a model" despite signing up as the new face of U.S. knitwear label St John for their 2011 autumn campaign. In behind the scenes footage from the recent shoot, Winslet says she instead communicating a message of strength and power by having "real shape".
The Oscar-winning actress replaces Jack White's wife Karen Elson as the face of the brand, famed for its classic styling and heavy dependence on primary colours. In a new promo clip titled 'Scenes of a Woman', Kate is filmed modelling a selection of pieces for the autumn campaign in a New Jersey theatre. Speaking about representing the brand, the actress said, "You don't feel as though they are clothes that only a model would be able to wear. And obviously I am not a model, I don't have a model's body, I have a real shape", adding, "And that just means a lot to me to be able to wear clothes that do embody that message of strength and power and femininity in a real shape". Winslet, who discussed how she is inspired by mothers who "just keep on going", recently separated from her director husband Sam Mendes. The couple have one son together, Alfie, who was born on 22nd December 2003.
She recently completed work on Elizabeth Banks' upcoming comedy 'Movie 43', with Emma Stone and Josh Duhamel. She has also rumoured to be appearing in the American Civil War flick 'Americana'.
