Kate Thornton, the British television presenter and former host of The X Factor, has been axed from Itv's 'Loose Women' after the show's ratings dramatically slumped, reports the UK's Sun newspaper. Kate Thornton and Zoe Tyler have been given the boot and will not return after the summer break.
The 38-year-old, once regarded as an up-and-coming television personality, began working as the main anchor on Loose Women in 2009. She was rumoured to be amongst the candidates to take-over from Claudia Winkleman on 'Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two', but the job was given to Zoe Ball last week. Ratings on Loose Women have dropped from almost two-million viewers per day, to just 700,000 last month. Early indications suggest 'Vicar of Dibley' star Dawn French could be added to the line-up in an attempt to draw in viewers. Long-serving panellist Coleen Nolan recently announced she would be stepping down from her role. A spokesman for Itv said, "Kate and Zoe have been fantastic Loose Women. We've really enjoyed working with them and look forward to working with them again".
Kate Thornton was previously in a relationship with Dj Darren Emerson but the couple separated in February 2011.
