British singer Kate Nash has fired several members of her entourage in a bid to avoid a repeat of her drink-fuelled 2008 tour which ended with the star suffering a breakdown.
The Foundations hitmaker revealed last year (10) she was forced to take time off after her long hours and rock 'n' roll lifestyle on the road began to affect her health.
She spent weeks recovering at home, watching television and catching up on sleep - and she also sacked several members of her inner circle to avoid falling back into "unhealthy" habits.
Nash tells Scotland's Daily Record, "I went home and watched TV. I passed my driving test and started hanging out with my friends again. I stopped living out of a suitcase and moved into a flat. I was sleeping, reading books and going to the movies. I did ordinary things to get inspired.
"I feel a lot more in control now. I have had to fire a lot of people. Being a young girl and doing that gives you a different outlook. Over the last four years, I sacked a lot of people because things weren't working out and relationships were negative. You can be surrounded by yes-men and women who just want to be seen with somebody cool. You have to know who your real friends are."
