The Pretenders frontwoman has praised the supermodel for keeping the spirit of the rock music scene ''alive'', but still criticised her for wearing fur.
She told the Mail on Sunday newspaper's Event magazine: ''Kate flies the rock 'n' roll flag and she keeps it alive!
''Although she's a fur-whore and we all have a problem with that, Kate.''
The 62-year-old singer also discussed contemporary pop stars like Miley Cyrus, and insisted they don't do enough for their music.
She explained: ''I see a lot of these young girls who say they're singer/songwriters. It always turns out that their songs were written by some bunch of other guys.
''And these girls are all 'producers' too - because they walked through a studio one day. All they've ever done in their lives is sit in front of a computer. They haven't lived a life. I've never so much as looked at a Facebook page. Even my own.
''And what is twerking? I actually don't know what twerking is. If it's something that all the young girls do then I don't know why you're talking to me about it.''
