After the criticism they faced over the headgear at this year's Royal Wedding, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie had no doubt given up any hope of being crowned 'Hat Person of the Year', the honor bestowed upon the best wearer of hats in the land. And sure enough, the title has, instead, been awarded to the real star of the Royal Wedding, Kate Middleton. The Duchess of Cambridge joins such style icons as Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp in winning the award.
It would appear, though that despite her seemingly faultless reputation, there is one princess that Kate Middleton simply can't topple when it comes to the popularity stakes. The Daily Mail reported today that Kim Kardashian and her fame-hungry clan are the most Googled celebrity family. In his Golden Globes speech, Ricky Gervais compared Kim to Kate, saying that she was "A bit louder, a bit trashier, a bit drunker, and more easily bought. Allegedly. Nothing's been proved." The joke may have been well-received but regardless of Kim's reputation, the thirst for Kardashian knowledge is yet to be quenched.
One thing that Kate can be assured of, however, is that far more people tuned in to watch her wedding, in which she married Prince William than can be said for Kim's on-going televised family sagas. Estimated viewers in the UK alone for the Royal wedding are estimated at between 26 and 36 million, whereas Kourtney and Kim Take New York usually attracts around 3 million. So Kim has a long way to go before she takes Kate Middleton's crown.
