Kate Middleton can hardly put a step wrong since becoming wife of Prince William, and now she's also being praised for her fashion sense, having topped a poll of 2011's best dressed - beating out the likes of Kate Moss, Florence Welch and Keira Knightley in the process.
Last week Middleton took on her first solo engagement at Clarence House since her huge spring Royal wedding to Prince William, when stepping in for Prince Charles to meet members of his charity In Kind Direct. Carrying off her appearance with aplomb, sources told the UK's Daily Mirror "The Duchess hosted a very special evening with absolute professionalism and charm," while for her part an aide said "She was so pleased that her first solo engagement was for the Prince of Wales, who has shown her so much support over the years."
Looking stunning then wearing a turquoise empire-line dress, it was one of many outfits worn this year - not least her fabulous wedding dress - which has seen the new Duchess take Bazaar Magazine's Best Dressed of 2011 Award - despite cover stars from this year including Moss, Emma Watson and Alexa Chung also making the final 20. Commenting on the poll, Bazaar editor Lucy Yeomans said "Catherine's incredible style evolution has gripped us all, she gave us the year's - if not the century's - most thrilling fashion moment at the royal wedding, and is shaping up as an amazing ambassador for British designers and the high street."
