Kasabian rocker Tom Meighan has hit out at One Direction, insisting they were lucky to find fame and are heading for an acrimonious break-up.

The Kasabian frontman is adamant the hit boyband has no longterm future in pop, and he compared them to industry-manufactured group the Spice Girls because they were put together by producers on Simon Cowell's The X Factor.

Meighan says, "They're f**king millionaires but they're five no-ones who won the lottery. They're massive, but they're a product, we're not. They're like shampoo. You buy it to put in your hair and wash it out, like the Spice Girls. Thing is, they'll all get angry with each other, fall out and do too many drugs. They'll wanna be f**king arty and do something clever and they'll break up."
