Kara DioGuardi has revealed that she is to play Roxy Heart in the Broadway version of hit musical Chicago. Former American Idol judge Kara Dioguardi, in an interview with USA Today, said that although she was not a trained dancer, she was looking forward to the role and cited her work on American Idol as one of the reasons she got the part: "It probably took me a week to get the dancing down for the audition. Now I've got my hips moving ways they never moved. It's a great new challenge. Idol opened all these doors for me, and what it did more than anything was face my stage fright. Now I can do these things."

She also recently opened up about her Idol past on Fox News, when discussing her new book "A Helluva High Note, Surviving Life, Love and American Idol". She revealed the pressure of becoming the fourth judge on the show, and the difficultly of being accepted alongside long-time judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, and said: "The first year was really tough for me coming into that situation where you got three people that everybody loves. There's no reason to break up the chemistry -- I mean, the fourth judge? You know, those words, they still are hard to say." DioGuardi, who has written songs for artists such as Celine Dion and Carrie Underwood, is currently a judge on Bravo's new reality show Platinum Hit, which showcases emerging singer-songwriters in their quest to become the next big hit-makers.
