Hip-hop star Kanye West has become the highest nominated artist in the MUSIC OF BLACK ORIGIN (MOBO) awards' nine-year history.

The SLOW JAMZ star has bagged seven nods - for Best Hip-Hop, Best Video, Best Producer, Best Single, Best Album and two nominations in the Best Collaboration category - at the British event being held at London's Royal Albert Hall on 30 September (04).

West made his name as a producer for the likes of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys before releasing his critically-acclaimed solo album THE COLLEGE DROPOUT, released earlier this year (04).

The prestigious ceremony will be hosted by N*E*R*D star Pharrell Williams.
