Fans thought The Girl on the Train star was 'shading' Pitt with his latest Instagram photo - a nod to the upcoming U.S. presidential race between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, using one of street artist Nick Flatt's images.

In the picture, a woman can be seen holding up her middle finger, while surrounded by scribbled expletives such as "F**k politics", "F**k imperialism" and "F**k war", but fans were quick to comment on the most eye-catching of messages in the snap - "F**k Brad Pitt".

Justin's post caused a frenzy on Twitter, with fans interpreting it as The Leftovers actor taking aim at Brad and his recent marriage split from Angelina Jolie, but Jennifer Aniston's new husband has been quick to respond to the feedback.

He wrote out the hashtag, "And NO this post is NOT 'shading' anyone because I'm not 11-years-old," adding, "I mean, seriously."
