Actress Julianne Moore underwent tests for Alzheimer's disease to prepare for her Oscar-winning performance in Still Alice.

The Crazy, Stupid, Love star won the Best Actress Academy Award on Sunday (22Feb15) for her role as a 50-year-old academic who is diagnosed with the degenerative disorder.

Moore carried out painstaking research for the part, including undergoing the neurological tests used to find the disease and meeting several women across America who had contracted early-onset Alzheimer's.

She tells Britain's Telegraph Magazine, "I had a neurologist administer the cognitive tests, which are quite extensive. That was pretty illuminating. Everything that you see in the movie, all the physical behaviours, the emotional behaviours, those are all things I have seen people do or they had spoken about to me directly."
