The new Jude Law and Angelina Jolie movie SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW has been delayed for four months to avoid a box office battle with Spider-Man 2.

According to American gossip site PAGESIX.COM, producers have pushed back the sci-fi film - directed by KERRY CONRAN - from 25 June to 17 September (04).

PARAMOUNT studios spokesman ROB FRIEDMAN says, "It was only moved once, from June 25 to September 17, and the one reason it was moved at all is because Spider-Man 2 was moved."

Despite Paramount claiming Spider-Man is behind the move, some studio sources claim Jolie and Law are unconfident about the film's reception and have refused to pose together for magazine covers.

One magazine editor explains, "Jude's and Angelina's people flatly refused a request, saying in both cases that they are not going to do publicity for Sky Captain."
