Joss Stone increased security at her home following an alleged kidnap plot by buying herself a new guard dog.
Two men were arrested last year (12) and charged over allegations they were planning to attack the star at her mansion in Devon, England, and a trial is due to take place later this year (13).
Stone tried not to feel fearful over the alleged plot, but insisted on adding a large guard dog to her collection of pets, so she bought a Caucasian ovcharka and named him Igor.
The You Had Me hitmaker tells Britain's You magazine, "It (the alleged plot) wasn't the easiest thing (to deal with), but in time I got there... I thought this is the perfect excuse for me to get more puppies."
Stone bought the dog because she was told that ovcharkas have a protective nature, but she is adamant Igor isn't dangerous.
She adds, "I believe very strongly that it's not the breed that's the issue, it's the owner. Take pitbulls. I understand why they're banned (in the U.K.) after all the accidents there have been involving them. But those particular dogs have been brought up and encouraged to be aggressive by people who should never have been allowed to own them in the first place. They're actually lovely creatures, the sweetest, softest things. It's about how they're raised."
Stone adds of her new pet, "Igor's great... I sleep better having them (my dogs) here."
