Former BEACH BOY BRIAN WILSON has paid tribute to 1960s singing legend PAUL SIMON at the BMI POP AWARDS in Los Angeles this week (17MAY05).

Wilson performed Simon's hit SOUND OF SILENCE, which appeared on SIMON + GARFUNKEL's 1964 album WEDNESDAY MORNING 3AM, at the bash - where Simon was handed the Icon Award.

British starlet Joss Stone also performed at the ceremony, singing another Simon hit, MOTHER AND CHILD REUNION, while YOLANDA ADAMS sang BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATERS and MAROON 5 sang HOMEWARD BOUND.

An emotional Simon told Wilson - who picked up the Icon Award in 2004, "I'm so touched, Brian. Any of the guys from my generation, to pay that tribute to me is just an honour."
