Joseph Gordon-Levitt has signed on to play 'The Holiday Killer' in the forthcoming Batman movie 'The Dark Knight Rises'.Joseph Gordon-levitt, the American actor and star of 'Inception' and '500 Days of Summer', has joined the cast of Christopher Nolan's 'Dark Knight Rises' and will play the villainous character also known as 'Alberto Falcone', reports the New York Post.Levitt's character is the son of the mobster 'Carmine Falcone', who was portrayed by the British actor Tom Wilkinson in 'Batman Begins'. Christian Bale's Batman killed Falcone Sr in the first movie. The 30-year-old joins the likes of Heath Ledger, Cillian Murphy and Ken Watanabe as the director's idea of a Batman villain. Ledger's performance in the 'The Dark Knight' was critically acclaimed and resulted in the actor winning a posthumous Oscar for 'Best Supporting Actor'. 'Carmine Falcone' possesses the sinister alter ego known as 'The Holiday Killer', who commits murders on specific yearly holidays. The character first featured in the 1996 graphic novel 'The Long Halloween'.
Joseph Gordon-levitt joins the likes of Marion Cotillard and Anne Hathaway as newcomers to the movie's cast. Michael Caine, Christian Bale and Gary Oldman are to set to reprise their roles from the previous movie.
