Joni Mitchell's Close Friend Leslie Morris Has Been Placed In Charge Of Making All Healthcare Decisions For The Folk Music Icon Once She Is Discharged From A Los Angeles Hospital.
The Both Sides Now singer, 71, has been under doctors' care at UCLA Medical Center since 31 March (15), when she was found unconscious at her Los Angeles home.
Last week (28Apr15), her friend Morris filed legal papers seeking an emergency conservatorship over the star's personal affairs in relation to her medical treatment, amid rumours alleging Mitchell was unconscious and unresponsive.
A representative for the musician subsequently dismissed reports suggesting the singer is in a coma, insisting she is "alert" and expected to make a full recovery, and her attorney, Alan Watenmaker, backed up the claims in court on Monday (04May15).
During the hearing, Watenmaker revealed he was fully supportive of Morris' filing as Mitchell is unable to discuss her medical care or longterm treatment with doctors, although she is expected to be released from hospital soon.
Superior Court Judge David S. Cunningham III granted Morris the conservatorship, but it will not give her any control over the singer's finances.
No further information about Mitchell's mystery health crisis was available as WENN went to press.
