U.S. Tv host Jon Stewart is taking a hiatus from his popular late night talk show over the summer (13) to focus on directing a movie.

The presenter will step down from duties on The Daily Show in June (13) and take a 12-week break to make political drama Rosewater. Show regular John Oliver will take over as host while Stewart is away.

Stewart has written the screenplay for the project based on the best-selling memoirs of Bbc journalist Maziar Bahari, a former guest on the show.

In the book, titled Then They Came for Me: A Family's Story of Love, Captivity and Survival, Bahari details his experiences in Iran following his 2009 arrest while covering an election protest. He claims to have been interrogated and tortured over 118 days in captivity.
