Jon Stewart, the American satirist and political commentator, reacted to the killing of Osama Bin Laden during his 'Daily Show' on Monday evening (2nd May 2011). Jon Stewart delighted his studio audience with a series of quips about the downfall of the Al-Qaeda leader, who was shot by U.S. forces on Sunday, reports CNN.
One day after President Barack Obama announced news of Bin Laden's death, Jon Stewart was still in a celebratory mood, saying, "Yes, we shouldn't have killed him. Now the terrorists are going to want to attack us. But you know what, even when they do, you know who won't see it? Bin Laden. Because we shot out his eyes, and now he lives in a pineapple under the sea". The New Yorker also joked how Bin Laden wouldn't have been anticipating the surprise attack in Abbottabad and concluded, "I am way too close to this whole episode to be rational about this in any way, shape, or form ... Last night was a good night ... not just for New York or D.C. or America, but for human people".
Jon Stewart's fellow late night host Stephen Colbert was in a similarly excitably mood on his show 'The Colbert Report', saying, "I'm as giddy as a schoolgirl who just shot bin Laden in the eye. I hope I am never again this happy over someone's death".
