'Mad Men's Jon Hamm will go from cocktail-drinking to babysitting for his upcoming film.

Jon, who plays bad boy advertising executive Don Draper in 'Mad Men', has taken on a role in 'Friends with Kids', where he will play a new dad struggling with the trials of juggling marriage and parenthood.

Jon told Total Film: ''I love kids. I love other people's kids because I like being able to give them back at the end of the night.''

'Friends with Kids' co-stars Jon's real-life partner of fifteen years, writer-director and actress Jennifer Westfeldt.

While he is comfortable in front of the camera, The 'Bridesmaids' actor - who recently made his directorial debut on an episode of 'Mad Men' - has no plans to take on a role behind the camera full time in the future.

He added: ''My job as director was simply not to run the train off the tracks. I can't write. It takes me three hours to write an email. I can't sit still long enough. Maybe it's because I drink 400 cups of coffee a day.''

Jon has accumulated a host of film roles outside of 'Mad Men', including an FBI agent in Ben Affleck's 'The Town' and in Zack Snyder's action flick 'Sucker Punch'.
