Rocker Jon Bon Jovi was thrilled when good friend Melissa Etheridge picked up Best Original Song at the Academy Awards, because it was so unexpected. The singer won for her tune I NEED TO WAKE UP from former US Vice President Al Gore's environmental documentary AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH. Bon Jovi said his favourite moment of the night, "Was to see An Inconvenient Truth win to get the message out there. "And to see my friend Melissa Etheridge bring the statue home because I think that was a dark horse surprise. "People would have expected DREAMGIRLS. (Her speech) was very eloquent. So I think it was great!"
