Jon Bon Jovi feared his band's performance in London on Sunday would never take place, after his last gig in the city was cancelled because the venue wasn't finished in time. Bon Jovi were scheduled to be the first act to perform at the capital's new 90,000-capacity Wembley soccer stadium last year (06), but building work over-ran. Instead the American rockers officially opened the O2 arena - formerly London's Millennium Dome - and the 44-year-old frontman was scared the band would be jinxed. He said, "I have told the promoter that I'll believe it when I see it. Is it going to be ready?" The gig went ahead as planned on Sunday (24Jun07), and Bon Jovi was impressed with the crowd, yelling from the stage, "Welcome to your brand new home. I've got to say, judging from the crowd out here tonight, who the hell needs Wembley Stadium?"
