Rocker Jon Bon Jovi has proved his ultimate devotion to America's arena football - by buying a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, team.

Bon Jovi is now a co-owner of the PHILADELPHIA SOUL team, an expansion ARENA FOOTBALL LEAGUE (AFL) club which will play next season in the local WACHOVIA CENTER and WACHOVIA SPECTRUM.

He says, "I love football, always have. It's the only sport I really live and breathe.

"This is a very sports-minded town. You know what they think of their sports teams. They love them, they love to hate them. But they'll love you if you try, if you give everything you have."

BON JOVI guitarist Richie Sambora and developer CRAIG A SPENCER also have a stake in the team.

Bon Jovi says he'll require players to sign autographs, visit elementary schools and, generally, behave.

He will also hold a private performance for season ticket holders - but he doesn't want fans to expect it as a regular occurrence.

He adds, "I'm not going to be the halftime entertainment. I'm going to sit in the owners' box."
