Hollywood's honorary mayor Johnny Grant has announced this year's (05) annual parade will be the last he'll produce.
The former actor, who turns 74 later this month (NOV05), insists he wants to hand over the reigns of taking charge of the parade to a younger man, so he can concentrate on composing his memoirs.
He tells the Los Angeles Times, "I just think it's time to step aside and let some young blood come in."
As well as producing 23 annual Christmas parades, Grant has greenlighted filming and concerts on Hollywood Boulevard and oversees and hosts the unveiling of stars on the street's famous Walk of Fame.
Grant originally retired from producing the parade in 1998 but when the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce asked him to return after the event became a farce during the following five years, the WHITE CHRISTMAS star returned to produce the 2002 street show.
