Johnny Depp's animated adventure 'Rango' is set to top this week's Box Office.

The film is thought to be on course for the highest opening weekend of the year so far, expected to take over $40 million by Monday (07.03.11).

The Wild West film sees Johnny's eponymous character, a chameleon, leave his comfortable tank for an old western styled town called Dirt, where he sets himself up as the sheriff.

Although this starts off smoothly, it rapidly ends up a spaghetti western styled adventure.

The film was directed by Gore Verbinski, who has previously worked with Johnny on the 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' series.

The actor has previously spoken about the affinity he found with his animated character, saying: "What I saw early on with the character, and something that Gore and I talked about, is that it is in sort of all of us, in a way.

"There is a chameleonic side to all of us in which we find ourselves in certain situations that you have to adapt to, sitting across from personalities that you have to adapt to in order to survive the moment or survive the day. That's kind of how I saw Rango."

Johnny is teamed in the film with a voice cast including Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, and Bill Nighy and Ray Winstone.
