They might have received steadily worsening critical receptions, but Johnny Depp's three Pirates Of The Caribbean films are among the top ten UK family movies.

The 2006 sequel, subtitled Dead Man's Chest, is the top pick out of films parents and children love to watch together.

Director Gore Verbinski's original is at number four, while the universally slated third Pirates film, At World's End, is ranked ninth.

A fourth film in the franchise, which has already made $2.7 billion, is already in development.

Elsewhere in the survey's top ten, as conducted by car insurer Admiral, animations Peter Pan (the Disney original) and Shrek are second and third.

1971 classic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory completes off the top five.
