Another controversy is brewing over HBO's plans to air Game Change , a docudrama about the 2008 Republican campaign in general and the decision by John McCain to pick Sarah Palin as his running mate in particular. In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter , producer Jay Roach said he committed himself to telling a true story "because the audience is going to sense if it is some kind of a politically motivated agenda piece." That is precisely the way some conservatives, including Palin's supporters see it. "The movie is a series of scenes where the dialogue, locations and participants are invented or rendered unrecognizable for dramatic effect," a statement posted on SarahPAC.com said. The Hollywood Reporter reported that four principals in the HBO drama, Roach, Ed Harris, who plays McCain, Woody Harrelson, who plays McCain strategist Steve Schmit, and producer Tom Hanks have together given more than $200,000 to Democrats and liberal causes and nothing to Republican or conservative ones.
