Comedian Dave Chappelle hosted an impromptu event at the No Name Club in Los Angeles, where nearly 200 people came together to pay tribute to Prince, who died last Thursday (21Apr16) at the age of 57.
Chappelle, who befriended the pop superstar after impersonating him for a skit on his cult TV sketch show, kicked off the evening by revealing a pal told him of Prince's passing in person so the devastated comedian wouldn't be left alone. He also took a moment to remember the other "greats" who recently died, including Garry Shandling and David Bowie.
Mayer took charge of the stage for most of the four-hour set, while Wonder intermittently performed throughout the night. The soul legend covered songs by Prince, Michael Jackson and The Beatles, in addition to singing his own tracks.
Rapper Nas briefly took the mic to freestyle over the band's cover of Jackson's Human Nature, while Kid of rap duo Kid 'n Play also performed. Mayer closed out the event with a rendition of Purple Rain
Among those enjoying the show from the audience were Naomi Campbell, Kate Hudson and Keanu Reeves.
