John Mayer has dodged rumours a break-up song he debuted just after his split with ex-girlfriend Jennifer Aniston is about the actress - insisting the lyrics are "subjective".
The pair ended their on/off romance last month (Mar09), just before Mayer debuted a new tune called Heartbreak Warfare at a U.S. concert.
And the lyrics have sent gossips into a spin over whether he's written the tune as an ode to their highly-publicised romance.
Mayer sings: "No one really every wins/In heartbreak warfare... Drop his name/Push it in and twist the knife again/Watch my face/As I pretend to feel no pain."
Addressing the rumours, a spokesperson for the singer says: The songs are subjective. The listeners are free to interpret and apply them to their own lives."
