John Lydon is refusing to undergo laser eye surgery to correct his sight because he's terrified the procedure will go wrong.
The Sex Pistols singer has been fearful of doctors since he was hospitalised with a bout of meningitis as a child and even though his sight has been progressively worsening over the years, he's still reluctant to sign up for the eye operation.
He tells Britain's The Times, "My eyesight's going. There's nothing I can do. I'd rather go blind than chance treatment with a laser, a friend of mine had that and it went wrong. Now he's almost blind in one eye. But if I lose my eyesight, I lose my life. I'd rather give up my ears than my eyes, which might sound unusual for a musician."
