John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono is hosting a musical extravaganza in her native Japan this Friday (06OCT05) - in honour of what would have been the late BEATLE's 65th birthday (08OCT05).

The 72-year-old artist chose Tokyo's Nippon Budokan hall for the show, which is the site of The Beatles' first Japanese concert in 1966.

And the quirky star will treat Lennon fans to her own performance of a selection of Beatles songs, although she admits she is both "embarrassed and thrilled" about.

She says, "Since John played with his Beatles bandmates there for the first time, I still feel as if his spirit is there."

Part of the funds raised by the tribute concert will go straight to Asian and African orphans, as well the December (04) tsunami relief effort.
