Guitars owned by late BEATLE GEORGE HARRISON and ROLLING STONE KEITH RICHARDS are forming the centre piece of an auction of entertainment memorabilia next month (DEC04).

Late Harrison's GIBSON SG instrument, which was also used by John Lennon during the recording of classic disc The White Album in 1969, is estimated to attract bids of up to $500,000 (GBP278,000) when it goes on sale at Sotheby's in New York.

Richards' guitar, which he played in the mid-1960s, is expected to raise circa $400,000 (GBP222,000).

Elsewhere, BRITNEY SPEARS' school book report from the 1980s is hoped to bring in $800 to $1,000 (GBP445 to GBP555), while Jimi Hendrix's 1961 junior high school yearbook has an estimated value of between $1,500 to $2,000 (GBP835 to GBP1,110).

Over 400 items go on sale at the 17 December (04) event, of which over 70 are Beatles memorabilia.
