John Galliano kept to his classical look at the opening Couture fashion show for Autumn/Winter 2010/2011 on Monday (05.07.10).

The Christian Dior designer wowed onlookers including Lily Cole, Jessica Alba and Blake Lively with the striking looks, at the display in a transparent tent in the grounds of the Rodin museum in Paris, France.

Models took to the runway in a number of inspired pieces, although the ever popular petal-shaped skirts remained a standard.

Galliano - who trained at London's prestigious Central Saint Martin's university - seemed inspired by flowers for the collection, which featured flashes of bright colours and plenty of hand-painted detailing.

A collection of ball gowns, saved for the finale, saw the celebrity crowd wowed with huge, colourful dresses jutting out from the waist, seemingly inspired by Elizabethan-style extravagance.

The show also featured a number of hairpieces courtesy of fellow Brit, milliner Stephen Jones, made to look like the cellophane wrapping used by florists.

The couture shows run until July 8, with displays from Givenchy, Chanel, Elie Saab and VALENTINO all expected.
