British director John Boorman has begun production on his long-anticipated biopic of Roman Emperor HADRIAN.
The Deliverance filmmaker has secured more than $50 million (GBP25 million) in funding for the project, which will chart the life of the man who famously built a long wall separating England and Scotland in the 2nd century A.D.
The movie will be based on Marguerite Yourcenar's novel Memoirs of Hadrian.
Boorman and his producers are currently searching for a star to play the lead role ahead of shooting, which is due to begin in Morocco next spring (09).
