G.I. Joe: Retaliation dominated the U.S. box office over the weekend (29-31Mar13) after raking in a whopping $41.2 million (£25.8 million).
The science fiction epic, starring Bruce Willis and Channing Tatum, bumped animated movie The Croods to second place with earnings of $26.5 million (£16.6 million).
Tyler Perry's Temptation premiered in third place with takings of $22.3 million (£13.9 million), Gerard Butler's thriller Olympus Has Fallen came in fourth ($14 million/£8.8 million) and fantasy film Oz the Great and Powerful was fifth ($11.6 million/£7.3 million).
Supernatural The Host, adapted from Twilight author Stephenie Meyer's novel of the same name, failed to break into the top five, coming in at number six ($11 million/£6.9 million).
