British singer Joe McElderry was left "shaken and creeped out" after an obsessed male fan visited his mother's home in a bid to meet the star.
The 21 year old, who won the U.K. version of The X Factor in 2009, was bombarded with abusive messages on Twitter.com by devotee Ennis MCBride, who also showed up on the singer's doorstep on more than one occasion.
MCBride was arrested last December (11) and he was convicted of harassment in September (12), while he was also handed a five-year restraining order to keep him away from the star.
MCElderry has now opened up about his ordeal, telling Britain's The Sun newspaper, "It started when Ennis came to my house and asked to speak to me urgently. My best friend answered the door because I was in the bath and obviously said I wasn't available."
MCBride then turned up at the singer's mother's house and MCElderry adds, "I was shaken and creeped out. Mum sounded very alarmed and distressed and told me to lock the doors. A few weeks later I was doing a show and he was there, in the front row. Obviously that spooked me but I just had to carry on performing.
"We called the police but while Mum gave a statement in the house we saw him outside, stood on the corner in the dark. It was creepy, it freaked me out. It isn't pleasant knowing someone is doing that to you and your family."
