British supermodel Jodie Kidd was shot at as she chased after an intruder at her family's 18th Century family mansion in Barbados.

Kidd, 25, was sleeping with her Polo star boyfriend TARQUIN SOUTHWELL, when she awoke to find a criminal standing over them - a chase ensued until the lovers had to hide as shots were fired.

A friend says, "Jodie was terrified. She found a man standing over her. She screamed to raise the alarm and the pair chased him from the house.

"But he started firing shots at them. They both dived to the ground and luckily were not hurt.

"Jodie found the incident very upsetting and she is reviewing security at the family home."

The couple, who were in Barbados to play polo and visit Kidd's family, alerted police shortly afterwards and had to attend an identity parade - the intruder is yet to be apprehended.

Police in Bridgetown released a statement: "There was an incident at HOLDERS HOUSE in the early hours of March 1 with an intruder who was disturbed by residents.

"Nothing was taken from the house."

Both Kidd and Southwell were shaken by the incident and a spokesperson for the pair says, "They don't want to comment about it."
