Country singer Jo Dee Messina ran from the track to the stage on Sunday (11Nov12) to perform a celebration concert after completing a half-marathon in Texas.

The star slipped on her running shoes for the Rock 'n' Roll San Antonio Marathon & Half-Marathon, joining 25,000 other entrants to raise money for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure breast cancer charity.

She crossed the finish line of her 13.1 mile (21.08 kilometre) race in two hours, 36 minutes and 50 seconds, but she didn't have much time to rest - she hit the stage just an hour later to sing for her fellow competitors and Messina is proud of herself for completing the feat.

Speaking after the run, the 42 year old said, "Today was awesome, it could not have gone any better. Those bands out there on the course motivated me for our show; they really help break up the miles when you're out there running.

"Living and promoting a healthy lifestyle is important to me as a mother and to combine it with my passion for music was a dream come true."

Messina wasn't even able to rest easy after the celebration gig - she had to board a tour bus and head to Austin in preparation for a concert on Monday night (12Nov12).
