Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff has been awarded Jamaica's ORDER OF MERIT in the country's Independence Day honours list.

The BRAVE WARRIOR star, 55, has released 30 albums during his 40 year career and is only usurped by Bob Marley as the champion of reggae music.

Cliff will receive the award - the third highest honour in the country, after National Hero and Order of the Nation - on NATIONAL HEROES' DAY on 20 October (03).
