Experience Hendrix LLC (the official family company that manages all things Jimi Hendrix) and Son Commercial Music Group are to release an expanded edition of 'Jimi Plays Berkeley' on Blu-ray and DVD on July 9th 2012.

The documentary film features both concerts that the rock pioneer performed at California's Berkeley Community Theater on May 30th 1970 taken from the original 16mm negative and with an added 15 minutes of extra never-before-seen footage including his performances of 'Voodoo Child (Slight Return)', 'MAChine Gun' and 'Hear My Train A Comin''. The 5.1 surround stereo soundtrack is mixed by the original Jimi Hendrix sound engineer Eddie Kramer.

Also included on the DVD is an audio-only production of his second show. 'Jimi Hendrix Experience: Live At Berkeley (The Second Set)' will be released on CD and 12 inch vinyl presenting 67 minutes of pure hard rock.

'We take great pride in doing our part to preserve the music of my brother, Jimi', says Janie Hendrix who co-produced the DVD and is president of Experience Hendrix, 'especially during his 70th birthday year.'

Hendrix passed away at the tender age of 27 in the same year of the legendary Berkeley concerts with much controversy arising over the circumstances of his death. September this year (2012) would have been his 70th birthday.
