British comedian Jim Davidson ranted about his arrest this week (20Mar13) and branded police officers "mental" as he returned to the stage for a stand-up show on Thursday night (21Mar13).
The funnyman was first detained by cops probing sex abuse claims in January (13) as part of the ongoing Operation Yewtree investigation sparked by late U.K. Tv and radio star Sir Jimmy Savile, who was unmasked as a serial paedophile following his death in 2011.
Davidson, who is said to be facing allegations dating back to the 1970s and unrelated to Savile, was arrested again on Wednesday (20Mar13), but he refused to let his legal troubles halt his stand-up show in Shropshire, England on Thursday.
The funnyman addressed his recent brush with the law during his performance and insisted his life has been "ruined" by the police investigation.
He told the audience, "These last six months have been the worst of my life. My life has been ruined. I just have to keep telling the truth. I have been rearrested. You turn up thinking the first two allegations are gonna be dropped and another load of s**t drops on you from 1978. I don't know what I was doing in 1978... Do you think police have gone mental?"
He added of Savile, "I met Jimmy Savile, if he arrived you f**ked off, and now the git (sic) drops dead and Operation Yewtree decide to prove a point. They say 'We missed Jimmy Savile, now we're gonna arrest every other f**ker that walks the planet'."
Davidson denied initial allegations suggesting he attacked two women, and his lawyer, Henri Brandman, insisted the comic has not been charged with any offence following the second arrest, adding, "He answered police questions as fully as he is able."
Davidson has been bailed until May (13).
