Jessica Simpson debuted her post-baby body on Katie Couric’s new talk show ‘Katie’ on Monday (September 10, 2012), with just about everybody on the planet now well aware that she got paid somewhere in the region of $4 million by Weight Watchers to shed the pounds.
Simpson became the new celebrity spokesperson for the diet company almost immediately after confirming her pregnancy, and early reports suggested she was in a race against time to lose the weight before her television appearance this week. Simpson’s first commercial for Weight Watchers also debuted, featuring the singer and actress looking directly into the camera and saying, “I'm Jessica Simpson and yes, I'm doing Weight Watchers. There is a lot of pressure to lose weight but I'm not a supermodel. I'm just Jessica trying to eat real food in the real world and I really just wanna be healthy for my daughter. So I knew Weight Watchers was the only way to go. It's working. I'm on my way and it feels amazing. Really I just wanna be a better version of myself.” According to the Huffington Post, Simpson and Weight Watchers are “desperately” trying to convince the public that the singer is just like any other woman with goals to lose weight, though the multimillion dollar contract that she signed appears to say otherwise.
The fact of the matter is, that Simpson put on an estimated 50 to 60 pounds during her pregnancy and doesn’t appear to have lost all of her baby weight. How much more she will attempt to lose for Weight Watchers remains to be seen.
