The Interstellar star recently welcomed cameras into the New York City home she shares with her boyfriend, Italian fashion executive Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo, for the new issue of Architectural Digest, and gave readers a tour of their luxury Victorian apartment, which is situated near Central Park.

During the visit, Jessica showed off a tufted, floral armchair which sits beside one of the pad's six fireplaces, and revealed she purchased the comfy piece of furniture at an auction not long after Bacall's death in 2014.

"It feels like she's sitting in the room with us," the actress shared of the armchair. "I imagine she's sitting here judging us."

The seat previously occupied a space in Bacall's longtime residence at the nearby The Dakota, the same place John Lennon called home until he was fatally shot outside the famous building in 1980.

Chastain and her man worked with designers Jesse Carrier and Mara Miller to create the look and feel of their shared home, and the living room is one of her favourite spaces.

"Soul retrieval was the real transformation here," Jessica said of the room's decor. "I have emotional connections to everything. And I want things to make me feel good when I'm around them."

Other highlights from the tour of the couple's home included a library with walls covered in silk, a silver chandelier in the spacious kitchen, and a copper pedestal tub in the master bedroom, reports People.com.

And Chastain isn't the only celebrity to own her apartment - celebrated composer Leonard Bernstein and cabaret singer Bobby Short also resided there in years past, while other building residents previously included actresses Lynn Redgrave and Vera Miles.
