A dancer has sued the producers behind Jessica Alba's 2003 movie Honey over allegations the plot was inspired by her life.

In a new lawsuit, Honey Rockwell claims the filmmakers used her story as the basis for the project, in which Alba plays a Hispanic hip-hop dancer from the Bronx, New York, without permission.

According to Tmz.com, the dancer is seeking damages and a share of the $70 million (£43 million) box office revenue brought in by the film and its 2011 sequel.

Rockwell runs her own dance academy in the Big Apple.
